Some Information about Diabetes...........
Everybody probably knows someone with diabetes but did you know that half the people with diabetes don't even know it. And many of those who are diagnosed with diabetes don't have a full understanding of what changes must be made in lifestyle and how medications help them live a more complete life.

Pharmacists at Midway Pharmacy are committed to a more complete Diabetes care that will enable and empower diabetics and their families to more effectively deal with the disease state. Beginning in 1998, Medicare will pay for more rigorous diabetes education and many insurances will probably follow suit with payment for these increased services for patients.

To prepare for this, we have undergone extra diabetes education and have prepared a step-by-step diabetes education and follow-up program to ensure diabetics receive proper education now and through the years. The follow-up education opportunities are particularly important because all of us need to be reminded periodically about what's good for us, especially when you're talking about something as complicated as diabetes. If you or someone in your family has diabetes, please consider Midway Pharmacy for Diabetes Care

About Medicare, and Medicaid...........
We realize that diabetes can be an expensive condition, but we will try to ease the cost as best as we can.

We are happy to bill Medicare, Medicaid, or insurance companies for the covered diabetes supplies. For example, Medicare will pay 80% of the cost of blood glucose monitors, glucose monitor strips, and lancets. Currently Medicare requires a person must be on insulin before they will pay for these items, but this is scheduled to change on July 1, 1998 so that any person treated for diabetes can receive these benefits. Medicaid will pay for insulin, needles, strips, lancets and monitors. Insurance companies will have various rules regarding their payment depending on plans and benefits.

For those who aren't eligible for help with their supplies, we work closely with the various manufacturers to get the best price for monitors and supplies. Occasionally these manufacturers
will run promotions that greatly reduces the cost of monitors, for example, so if you need one, please contact us to see what is currently available. We stock and recommend various monitors such as the  and  but we will be happy to stock whatever monitor and supplies that the patient or doctor prefers.
